Somerset Past Captains – 63rd Annual Dinner
We are excited to announce that we are ringing the changes and going to the Holiday Inn Taunton (J25 M5) for our 63rd Annual Dinner, a venue which has excellent facilities and meets all of our growing needs.
We will have two speakers on the night, one focusing on golf matters and a professional comedian. The choice of the location gives us considerably more room for the tables, enables us to create a far better layout, there will be accommodation on-site and finally we will be supported by a dedicated Conference Team at the hotel with far better capability to support us.
For the first time in a while, the SGC Executive Committee has agreed to a modest increase in the Annual Dinner price which will now be £50 a head. This has been forced on us by rising costs in the catering and hotel business sector – the Dinner always runs at a small loss, but the Committee felt that they had to take the difficult decision that was upon us.
MAKE A NOTE OF THE DATE IN YOUR DIARY AND ASK YOUR CLUB ANNUAL DINNER CO-ORDINATOR TO CONTACT DAVID BATE (SEE DAVID`s CONTACT DETAILS BELOW) SO THAT WE CAN PUT THE PLANS IN PLACE FOR THIS EVENT IN 2025.
In the meantime, if you are planning to stay overnight, you can book Bed & Breakfast at a very special rate at the hotel (Quoting the special reference SGC to qualify), for £85 (usual price £124).
The same total cost applies to a one- or two-person occupancy room for bed & breakfast.
You cannot ring too soon as this special price is for a limited number of rooms. The telephone number to call and reserve your room (between 09.00 and 16.00), is: 01823 281600 then select option 1 for reservations. This is the direct hotel number, calling outside of the stated times or any different number you may get their central reservation team who will not understand the booking reference or special price.
