It is with great sadness that Wells Golf Club have to announce that Past Captain Eric Loxton passed away on Monday 10th June.
Eric, universally known as Tiny, was a former Royal Marine who figured prominently in local sport in Wells, playing football for Wells City and cricket for Wells. Joining the golf club more that 40 years ago, Eric was Club Captain in 1995 and served many years on committee.
He organised and led a group of volunteers who carried out a range of construction and maintenance tasks on the course and around the clubhouse, and his efforts on this were rewarded with an honorary life membership.
He was a stalwart of Stragglers and Past Captains teams over many years and will be well remembered by members of Somerset Golf Captains.
