What two days are the same on a golf course. On Wednesday at Brean when we played the Ladies it was very wet and windy, Thursday at Long Sutton was nice and warm and slightly windy with only the last four ball got wet.
Thirteen past Captain of Captains arrived for my Presidents’ Day which kicked off with a bacon roll and coffee.
Apologies were received from the Following :- Mike Usher-Clark, John Chillington, George Davis, Andy Carter, John Vernon, Jim Scott and Frank Ryan.
Vice President Iain had to pullout due to illness and we wish him a speedy recovery.
The format and playing partners were announced and lead by the President teed off at 13:00.
Everyone played off their course handicap for Long Sutton and a few comments were banded about about some of the shots received but trust me with the wind and the greens playing slow the scores reflected this choice.
After golf we all sat down for a two Course meal of roast beef and all the trimmings followed by a mixed fruit crumble and custard judging by the silence and empty plates at the end it went down very well.
I thanked everyone for making my second Presidents’ Day a success and then handed out the day’s prizes to those lucky enough to win.
