Autumn Meeting 2026

This year’s Autumn Meeting was held at Bath Golf Club. Unfortunately, the weather reflected the title of the day, providing drizzle & a chilly breeze for the forty-four players.

Bath’s Captain Michael Frude kindly acted as the Starter, giving everyone the benefit of his local knowledge. With scores ranging from ‘not so good’ to 43 points, some people had obviously listened more carefully than others!

The post-match meal was a hearty roast followed by Spiced Apple pudding. The food was accompanied by laughter & plenty of banter, stopped only by the presentation of the prizes.

Nearest the pins on holes 4 & 14 were won by Tim Wheeler (Clevedon) & Paul Burns (Weston-Super-Mare), who were both in the penultimate group.

4th place in the day’s 4BBB went to Kevin Blakely, not Mr Whately as announced (!) from Stockwood Vale & Mike Rossiter (Enmore Park) with 39 points.

The 3rd place went to David Willis (Cannington) & Pete Glanville, a Bath GC member, also on 39 points.

John Gray (Stockwood Vale) & Bill Bailey (Stockwood Vale) were awarded 2nd place with 42 points.

The Autumn Meeting 2026 winners were Matt Baker (Saltford) & John Dardis (Saltford) with 43 points.

The final presentations of the day were for the Griffith Trophy, given to the player with the highest combined score from the Spring & Autumn meetings.

John Gray was placed second with 80 points but the outstanding winner was Bill Bailey with a mammoth 89 points! Bill’s total of 47 points from the Spring meeting had set him in pole position for this year’s award!

Congratulations to everyone receiving prizes – & to all the Captains who played in the tricky conditions.

Finally, our thanks to Bath Golf Club for hosting the event & to every member of their staff who helped the day run so smoothly.
