Dear Captain
You are invited to submit an entry for you and a guest for the 2025 Captain’s Day (Invitation) at Oake Manor on Tuesday 22nd July 2025. The first tee time will be from 1100 and we have space for at least 80 players with the last tee time at around 1400.
Please note that Junction 26, the Wellington Exit, will be closed from mid-June 2025 to September 2025 and you will need to work out an alternative route, allowing quite a bit more time to make your journey.
COST
The entry fee is £90 (£45 per person) and includes coffee and a bacon roll, 18 holes of golf and a two-course dinner as well as a prize table. This fee must be paid when you submit your entry as explained below. Entries will be in pairs only as the SGC Executive Committee has told me to mix pairings up on the tee sheet to encourage you to meet other Captains.
FORMAT
The format will be 4 Ball Better Ball (85% of CH) with a random draw (after all teams have teed off) to form teams of four – two Captains and their two guests. Please note that your playing partners on the day will not be your team. Both drawn pairs’ Stableford better ball scores will be added together to decide the overall winners of the main competition. The Tankards donated by Mike Usher-Clark will be presented to the two SGC Captains in the winning team. There will also be prizes for the best better ball scores by individual Captains and their guests who are not in the main “team of four” prizes.
GUESTS
Your guest should ideally be someone you think deserves a “thank you” from you or from SGC and could be a Captain from another County, your incoming Vice Captain or a friend that you would like to treat to a great day out. Professionals can be invited as usual and will play off their WHS handicap. All other guests and Captains must be members of a Golf Club with a WHS handicap and a CDH number.

Please email the Secretary (secretary@somersetgolfcaptains.co.uk) with the name of your guest (and CDH number please!) and your preferred start time i.e. early, middle or late. Please also pay the £90 entry fee by BACs as set out below.
