President Iain Robertson welcomed past 14 other past Captains of Captains to the annual President’s Day at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club along with our current Captain John Perkins.
The 15 Captains could be traced as far back as 2007, the honour of being the earliest Captain this year falling to 1994 SGC Captain George Davis (Wells) with our current Vice President, Colin Davies from The Mendip, being next earliest (2007).
The group played a stableford and hidden pairs format with the winning past Captain of Captains winning the President’s trophy.
On a day where scoring was not as important as the memories being shared and their playing records as Captains being compared (!), it proved to be a challenge for all.
George Davis came out on top (again!) with Ian Robertson (T&P) and Mike Rossiter (Enmore Park) winning the pairs consolation and John Beer (Oake Manor) winning the nearest the pin on the difficult 8th hole.
“T&P” provided an excellent meal and hospitality for the event and all those attending vowed to do their best to make it back next year!
