As Somerset Golf Captains, we are supporting the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA) and Prostate Cancer UK and have arranged two events at Mendip Spring Golf Club on Thursday the 3rd and Saturday the 5th of September.
The event on the 3rd of September is a four-ball team Bowmaker competition with a shotgun start, coffee, bacon rolls, two course meal, prizes and auction. The entry price is £280 per team, and you can enter your team via the Mendip Spring Golf & Country Club website: www.mendipspringgolfclub.com , then in the top bar click on Golf and in date order you will come to the poster and entry details for the golf day and how to enter on the system (CDH numbers required). Alternatively, use the attached form and payment details – form here
Then separately on the 5th of September there is a prostate cancer screening available for 350 men (Aged 30+), at Mendip Springs Golf Club between 10:00 and 16:00, you can book your free screening time slot via the following website: SPSA.uk where you can book a time suitable to you at no cost.
Why are we doing this? Firstly, to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK (for research), Somerset Prostate Support Association, and perhaps more importantly to enable men to have a quick, confidential and convenient test without the need to go through their GPs and the NHS.
The reasons are straight forward. In England 44,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, 10,000 men die from prostate cancer each year, 440,000 are currently living with or have the after-effects of prostate cancer. We want to provide Somerset men the opportunity to have an easy test to mitigate the damage this dreadful decease can cause, and you are invited.
How can you get involved? Arrange your teams and enter them on the Mendip Spring website or complete the attached form and email it to david.bate18@outlook.com.
Also, please let David know if you have any auction lots that you would like to donate.
Book a free screening time for you, your friends and family on the Somerset Prostate Support Association website. This is free to everyone, however each test costs SPSA £28 and as they are a registered charity a donation at the time will always be appreciated.
Please make your golf and test bookings early as similar events always sell out quickly, have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in the first week of September.
